Quality Time With Your Kids

Category: Family — Author: Edie Mindell

We love to spend time with our children and bond with them everyday. But as career-oriented and working moms, we rarely have the chance to do so because of our hectic schedules. We long to be with them for every minute of their lives, but we simply can’t. We just can’t find much available time to do so.

Because of our hectic schedule, we are already tired and exhausted whenever we go home. And one of the quickest and simplest form of bonding we could give our children is watching television together. Just by doing so, we think that we have already spent time with them. Watching tv is our way of bonding with them, at the same time, we get to relax our tired body.

Watching tv can be fun, but letting your children watch too often for you to spend time with them is not quality time. While watching tv can be educational especially if they are watching informative programs, too much of it is not a healthy bonding for you and your children. (more…)

The Right Age For Potty Training

Category: Family — Author: Paul Jason James

One of the most frequently asked questions by first time parents is “what is the right age for potty training?” The short answer to that is There isn’t one

Regardless of what you may hear from well-meaning friends and relatives, the right age to potty train your child is when your child is ready. Attempting to potty train a child who has not shown any signs of readiness will frustrate both you and the child and very possibly make him resistant to potty training in the future. Helping Your Child Get Ready You can help your child get ready for potty training by encouraging his natural curiosity. Let him follow you into the bathroom and explain that you’re going potty. Let him learn how the toilet works. If his natural curiosity leads him to start happily flushing everything in sight, a simple toilet lid lock from the hardware store will save your sanity and your pocketbook.

You can also help him recognize that he goes potty. Ask him if his diaper is wet. When he starts to tell you on his own that he needs to be changed, he’s getting close to being ready for potty training. Switching to cloth diapers at this point will also help since the cloth diapers don’t wick the moisture away from his skin, he will be more able to feel wet. (more…)

Suggestions For An Ideal Wedding

Category: Family — Author: Alma Fisher

Nothing can be more agonizing than the thought that something might go wrong on your marriage day; hence you need to avert any eventuality. The matter is aggravated by the fact that it demands a lot of effort to see a marriage day pass without any problems. It requires elaborate planning and a careful execution of the plan to ward off the knotty situations that generally emerge at weddings.

How much you are prepared to spend on the wedding is a major consideration that must precede any planning. A marriage is a costly affair, but there are minor things, the awareness of which can save you a lot of expenses. For example, the decoration part of the marriage venue can be entrusted to a relative who has a natural talent for it. The task is not that difficult to execute and if done in-house can be cost effective, considering you are not engaging an external agency to do it. Moreover, flowers usually cost a princely sum in the market, and making an assortment of wild flowers in the bouquets would save a lot from your budget.

Nothing assumes more importance while planning a wedding than the venue. Picking the right venue requires much effort and thinking. Everything, from the accommodating capacity of the venue to its location and the amenities it offers, is important to make sure that the right venue has been selected for the event. (more…)

Attaching like a jumper a sleeping sack allows a child to be covered and yet still have free movement while sleeping without the devastating effects of becoming tied up in blankets and sheets. They can freely move about on the mattress with out becoming uncovered or tangled.

A baby sack or baby bag also can ensure the parent of the baby staying warm enough through the night without the worry of kicking off blanket and becoming chilled. (more…)

There is so much out there from silverware to ceramics and from plush toys to clothing. So, before you start thinking about which item to purchase, you must consider exactly who the recipient is you are purchasing for. How to Use Games to Teach Your Child English

Category: Family — Author: Adriana Noton

Children are little sponges with a capacity for learning that can be downright astounding, which is why one can teach a child English faster than a full grown adult.

It is said that children can learn and say about 50 words around 18 months. At this time, they can begin to use new words only after hearing them spoken aloud once. By the age of 2 they know roughly 250-350 words and a mere six months later their word capacity can double to around 600.

Interestingly enough, they learn language without any formal training, but merely by listening and picking up patterns of speech. Speech is then translated to visual objects to which the sounds apply. Kids then correlate phonetics to these objects and know that the sound-words are used to describe them. (more…)
